Museum of History & Culture
SAIPAN – An excellent starting point for understanding the rich history of The Marianas and putting the diverse cultures of today in historical context. Housed in a renovated Japanese-era hospital, the museum holds everything from Spanish galleon gold to Japanese-era medicine bottles and much more. Plan to spend at least an hour. This museum also has a gift shop.
Oceanside cliffs abound on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, allowing for convenient and quiet fishing.
The annual Rota Cliff Fishing Derby happens each September, attracting fishermen from the region. Saipan’s northern coast offers fishing spots, especially Banzai Cliff where an occasional turtle will surface to say “hafa adai”.
Local Festivals & Markets
Throughout the year, a variety of festivals celebrate Chamorro, Carolinian and international cultural traditions in song, dance, crafts and food. Be sure to check our Events calendar for information on weekly and annual festivals and markets.
